PAT TRAVERS And CARMINE APPICE Hard At Work On New Album

Guitarist Pat Travers and drummer Carmine Appice (VANILLA FUDGE, BLUE MURDER) are in the studio laying down tracks for their second CD, this time for Cleopatra Records. Performing on the album are two acclaimed bass players, Tony Franklin (BLUE MURDER, THE FIRM, WHITESNAKE) and Chuck Wright (QUIET RIOT, ALICE COOPER). The album contains new versions of Travers- and Appice-related classics. Songs like Travers' "Snortin' Whiskey", which appears in the Oscar-nominated movie "Sideways", and "Superstition", from the BECK, BOGERT, APPICE gold-certified CD and features Tim Bogert on vocals, as the original.

Commented Appice, "This album kicks some serious ass and we've improved on the studio sound as well. And after touring together Pat and I have got really tight as players and it shows."

Added Travers, "After we played with Tony I was blown away and then Chuck played with us and I was blown away again. These two have to be the best rock bass players alive!" He explains, "I was also playing my new PRS guitar on this CD. I was so inspired playing. It took me to new heights musically."

Appice agrees, "Pat is playing better than ever on this CD. He is one of a kind."

Also scheduled to for appearance are Bobby Kimball and Steve Lukather of TOTO.

In other Travers/Appice news, the TRAVERS & APPICE live DVD will be out April/May and features a live show and interviews recorded in September 2004 and features another great bass player — TM Stevens.

Meanwhile, in an exclusive interview with Electricbasement.com, Appice offered an explanation for why his acclaimed outfit BLUE MURDER didn't quite break through the upper echelon back in the late '80s."No management, that's why," he said. "Nobody was in charge of the band. We had the best producer, Bob Rock, and label, Geffen, with the best A&R guy [John] Kalodner and best trio. Magic Music. But without the manager who works the record company and live gigs, press etc., we did not have the best. If we had a manager like Doc McGhee as MÖTLEY CRÜE and BON JOVI had we maybe would have had a chance. But that was our weak link in the chain."

On the possibility of a BLUE MURDER reunion, he says, "We are talking about doing something later this year. But who knows?" In addition to Appice and bassist Tony Franklin, BLUE MURDER also featured legendary guitarist John Sykes (THIN LIZZY, WHITESNAKE).
